Press release
The Baldwin Gallery is pleased to present the gallery’s sixth show with multi-media contemporary artist Matthew Weinstein.
Matthew Weinstein’s Twenty Suns exhibition focuses on the horizon line and sunset sky. Using a technique similar to divisionism, each oil on linen work represents a unique memory. However, not the image of the memory, rather the feeling specific to that memory. It is the experience of a holistic sense of time. The works represent a meta memory, rather than a concrete one, in which the artist invites you to explore the nature of memory and contemplate how it works. Born and based in New York City, Weinstein earned a B.A. from Columbia University in 1987. His has been exhibited in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY; The Nassau County Museum of Art, Roslyn, NY; the Sammlung Goetz, Munich, Germany, and Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlungen in Munich, Germany, among others.
